According to David Jaffe’s post on his Playstation Blog, Twisted Metal will be pushed back to an early 2012 release. With the original release date being October 4th, 2011 he explains how it sucks for all gamers alike to have to wait, but with the hopes of giving the game some extra polish it needs to be great. Jaffe goes on to quote one of his personal heroes Shigeru Miyamoto saying “A late game is only late until it ships. A bad game is bad until the end of time.”
He also goes on to say “Now, if we shipped Twisted Metal tomorrow – going off the response from folks who have played it – I assure you, it would never be a bad game. Not even close. But we’re aiming for a heck of a lot more than that! With Twisted Metal we plan to ship a multiplayer classic. We plan to ship the best Twisted Metal ever made. We plan to convert a lot of folks who think vehicle combat is a relic best left to 90?s nostalgia.” So while the game is by no means bad, (having played it at Comic Con) I’m all for a brief delay to assure that this is the best Twisted Metal to date.
The team at Eat, Sleep and Play are preparing a build of Twisted Metal for GamesCom and PAX Prime, they’ll be showing off a new level which goes by the name of “Thrills and Spills Amusement Park”. People attending the shows will get to play a new mode called “Team Hunted” that will be making it’s debut at Gamescom between August 17th-21st. Along with the those treats attendees at both shows will see a new Dollface story trailer giving a little more insight to this creepy character.
With this extra time, here’s to Twisted Metal being one hell of a game!
Stay tuned for more info.
