Along your journeys through the Star Wars universe you’ll be picking up companions that will be able to assist you in a variety of ways. Star Wars: The Old Republic has released the skills that your companions can learn to use.
They are separated into three different categories: Gathering Skills, Crafting Skills and Mission Skills. Each of them breaking down into a sub-category of skills.
Mission Skills are used for sending your crew member out on their own. Through these skills you’ll earn light/dark side points, weapons, credits, etc. When you do send them out, it will take time for that companion to return so don’t expect to use him/her immediately. This seems similar to the system Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood implemented where you select an assassin and send him/her out on a mission to advance their skills.
When you use a mission skill, you’ll select a companion, choose a mission from an
ever-changing pool, and send that companion out after the prize.
Below are the different skills in the Mission Skill tree that you will be able to have your crew use:
Diplomacy – the art of conducting and managing negotiations
Investigation – the skill of examining evidence and following clues to discover valuable secrets
Treasure Hunting – the ability to track down and recover valuable items by investigating a series of clues
Underworld Trading – expertise in the trading of illegal goods and services
