The 66 game regular season kicked off on Christmas Day, what a present for Basketball fans. Fans were treated to five major games that included a rematch of the NBA Finals from Last Year between the Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks. The new look Clippers took the court against Golden State and the Lakers faced the league MVP lead Bulls. Here’s the scores from those five games and some highlights!
Boston Celtics vs New York Knicks (TNT)
Carmelo Anthony put up 37 points which lead the Knicks to their first win of the season, granted…this is the first game of the season. Also this game contained a pretty nice alley oop to Tyson Chandler, Watch it here.
Miami Heat vs Dallas Mavericks (ABC)
The Miami Heat has a comfortable lead before the half, and maintained that lead throughout the rest of the game. Sure the Mavericks tried to mount a comeback, but they came up short and Miami gets their revenge on the now defending NBA champs. Lebron James lead the teams scoring with 37 points only shooting 11-19 from the field. Dwayne Wade wasn’t far behind with 26 Points. Also, Lebron dunked in a crowd of people…pretty sick if you ask me…watch it.
Chicago Bulls vs Los Angeles Lakers (ABC)
A very close game down to the final seconds and the Chicago Bulls pull off a big victory over the Los Angeles Lakers with D. Rose scoring the game winning layup. Derrick Rose had 22 points that game with 5 assist and the game winning shot of course.
Orlando Magic vs Oklahoma City Thunder (ESPN)
The Thunder are so far the only home team to win their season opener. They do it in convincing fashion as they had control throughout the whole game except being outscored in the 4th quarter. This win wouldn’t have been possible without the Kevin Durants 30 points and 6 assist and 5 rebounds. Here’s a highlight that shows one of the many shots that got him that 30 points as he drives down the lane and draws the foul, watch it here.
Los Angeles Clippers vs Golden State Warriors(ESPN)
After nearly three quarters of lead changes between the Clippers and Warriors, the Clippers run away with this game down the stretch. Chris Paul and Blake Griffin came together for a combined 42 Points and one of the best plays didn’t come from them! Watch as Ex-Dallas Maverick Caron Butler shows how to drop one in from ridiculous areas, watch it here.
