The Call Of Duty franchise is a huge one, just the mention of it can turn a once calm crowd of gamers into a pack of ruffians. Call of Duty: Black Ops II is looking to keep that gravy train rolling for Activision and this time it’s set in the near future! That’s right, no old stuff that might bore you to death, but up to date stuff that might bore you to death! This games story has had some help from oscar winning Screenwriter David Goyer and a mixture of other things that might make this game one to pick up.
Story – When I played the first Black Ops, it was for multi-player only because all of my friends had it. Very expensive 60 bucks to spend on a game JUST to play with friends online right? However, I was never a fan of TreyArch and still not after seeing this pretty darn good story. Yes, I will be one of the first to admit that I actually enjoy playing through this story MORE than I did with Modern Warfare 3. While it takes you back and forth, the story made sense and filled the player in one somethings that one might have missed if they did or did not play the first game. However, my only gripe…Strikeforce Missions…I….I….I HATE how difficult they are. I like the fact they added in a little RTS hybrid during the story, but good god man, I can’t seem to get a grip on these things!
Multi-Player – Sigh, I’m not really a fan of multi-player. Mainly because the servers suck and just like battlefield, the party system isn’t always solid. I played more than my fair share of matches online against other players and while some of them ran pretty smooth, after a while the servers just got worse. We’re talking lag, and I should not lag when I have 105 mbps internet connection. Also, Scorestreaks, I wasn’t a fan of them in Modern Warfare 3, and my stance hasn’t changed when it comes to Black Ops II.
Overall if you are a big Call of Duty fan, you should pick this game up. For everyone else, you should probably rent it and see if you will REALLY like it or not. It has fun multi-player when you find a good server and pretty intense single player story to play-through. I however, wouldn’t nominate this for GOTY as there are other games out there that are WAAAAAY better than this one.
